Maite Ballester

Maite Ballester

Maite has been in the trade for 30 years. Before co-founding Nexxus Iberia, he managed the office of the English fund 3i in Spain. He has participated in more than 45 transactions in Spain, including two IPOs. Previously, she worked for six years at Booz Allen Hamilton as a strategy consultant in Mexico, United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal. Maite holds an MBA from Columbia and a Cum Laude degree in Finance and Political Science from Boston College.

She is currently an independent director at Cellnex, where she is also a member of the audit, risk management, sustainability and remuneration committee. In addition, she also sits on the Advisory Boards of ING Spain, Grupo Antolin and SONAE in Portugal.

She has been an independent director at Repsol and Prisa in the last four years and a member of the audit, remuneration and sustainability committees. Additionally, she was an independent director and chairwoman of the audit committee of Grupo Lar and a member of the Advisory Board of Aon España.

She chaired ASCRI (Spanish Venture Capital Association) from 2010 to 2012 and is a member of the Instituto de consejeros-Administradores (ICA), the IWF (International Women’s Forum), Women Corporate Directors and former president of Level 20 in Spain to support the presence of women in the Private Equity and Venture Capital sector. Recently, she has been appointed Patron of the Junior Achievement Foundation.

She has a beagle (Maggie) that she takes care of with great care, a small winery in the Rioja Alta and enjoys traveling with her family and friends.

Alejandro Diazayas

Alejandro is a co-founder of Nexxus Iberia. Previously, he worked for 21 years at Nexxus Capital in Mexico and moved to Madrid in 2018.He has participated in several investment banking operations, as well as in more than 15 private equity operations, most of them in their full cycle with sales to strategic companies, placements in the stock markets and sales to other funds. He has invested in several sectors such as food, pharma, retail, consumer products and services.
He was part of the investment committee at Nexxus Capital and currently, he is part of the investment committee at Nexxus Iberia.
Alejandro graduated with honors in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Iberoamericana.

Alejandro is passionate about motorcycles, downhill mountain biking, snowboarding, martial arts and spending time with family.

Pablo Gallo

Pablo Gallo

Pablo is co-founder of Nexxus Iberia and like Maite, he worked at 3i, where he became one of the partners. Subsequently, he worked at AZ Capital and as an independent advisor to medium-sized companies, both on their boards and in inorganic development processes.

He has participated in 25 transactions and has been a director of companies such as Intermás, La Sirena, Everis, The Eat OutGroup, and Dogtrack, among others. Today, he is a member of STM Seguridad, OFG Telecomunicaciones and Contenur.

Pablo holds an MBA from IESE and a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona.

Pablo is passionate about family, skiing, reading and loves to cook (more bad than good) for friends.

Juan Pedro Dávila

Juan Pedro Dávila

Juan Pedro joined Nexxus Iberia in 2016. He began his career in investment banking at J.P. Morgan in London and then at AZ Capital with Pablo.

Subsequently, he directed Jesuit Refugee Service activity in two refugee camps in Chad as well as education projects in Cambodia.

He is currently on the boards of Marsanz, Mirplay, STM and OFG, and was formerly with Bienzobas and Mercurius. He is also a trustee of the Ayuda en Acción foundation and co-founder of Miller and Marc.

Juan Pedro studied Law and Business Administration at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE E-3) and an MBA at IE.

He pushes the Nexxus impact area, loves to travel, cook rice or barbecue, and spend time with family and friends.

Javier Onieva
Partner

Javier focuses on sourcing investment opportunities, executing acquisitions and representing Nexxus Iberia on boards of directors. He is currently on the board of Contenur, La Margarita, Aerocamaras. He was previously on the boards of TwentyFourSeven, Chef Sam and W Clinics.

Between 2011 and 2018, Javier worked at 3i with Maite, where he completed several pan-European transactions (Scandlines, Audley Travel and Christ), was a board member of different companies (Prisa Radio, Memora, Derprosa, Café y Te and La Sirena among others) and led the coverage of the consumer sector in Iberia.

Prior to 3i, Javier worked in the Investment Banking divisions of Merrill Lynch (London), Arcano (Madrid) and Banco Santander (Madrid).

Javier holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from ICADE. He is passionate about his family, loves traveling and sports, enjoys learning and will be happy to listen to your story and help you in any way possible!

Jaime joined Nexxus Iberia in 2018.

Previously, Jaime worked at the English fund 3i in Madrid and at PwC in the Deals area.

Carlos Otero
Associate
Carlos joined the Nexxus investment team in 2022. Previously, he worked in the investment team of the infrastructure fund Plenium Partners, focused on investments in Southern Europe, and in the structured finance division of Crédit Agricole in Madrid. He is an electromechanical engineer and holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICAI). In addition, he has completed levels I and II of the CFA program.

Passionate about motor racing, Carlos enjoys sports, including triathlon, kickboxing and golf.

Ignacio Siska

Ignacio joined Nexxus Iberia in 2024.

Previously he worked at the UK fund All Seas Capital in London and at Lazard in M&A in London, both covering the pan-European market with a focus on Spain.

Ignacio holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a degree in physics from Imperial College London.

Ignacio enjoys trips to the sea and the mountains (for wind and snow sports), and never misses an opportunity to travel or taste international cuisines.

Abel Grande

Abel Grande

Abel is an analyst in the Madrid office. Prior to joining Nexxus in 2021, Abel was a Senior Associate in the Deals area of PwC.

Previously, he participated as an analyst trainee at Alantra’s private equity management firm. Abel has a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas.

He enjoys playing paddle tennis, skiing and spending time with friends.

Fernando Zapata
Diego Gil de Antuñano

Diego joined the Madrid office as an analyst in 2024. Previously, he worked in the Corporate Finance area of PwC and in the infrastructure fund Taiga Mistral.

Diego has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas – ICAI.

In his free time he enjoys outdoor sports: he plays golf, tennis, paddle tennis and is passionate about skiing.

Inés Bonet

Inés joined the Nexxus Iberia team in 2020 as Chief Financial Officer.

He began his career in Financial Auditing at PwC. Subsequently, she worked at Ybarra & Serret as Managing Director and at Aura REE as Financial Director.

Inés holds a degree in Business Administration from CUNEF and an MBA from IE Business School.

Lover of good food, travel, family and friends. He likes to enjoy the little things in life.

Silvia Sanchez
Administrative Assistant

She joined Nexxus Iberia in May 2019

She started her career at Novotel and Ford and later at Acciona Facility Services in the Investor Relations department.

Silvia has studied a Higher Degree in Tourism and another in Management Assistance.

She loves walking along the seashore, traveling anywhere, enjoying my family and laughing with friends over a good glass of wine.

Arturo Saval
Chairman

Arturo is president of Nexxus Iberia and co-founder of Nexxus Capital, and brings more than 33 years of experience in venture capital, investment and commercial banking.

Prior to co-founding Nexxus Capital in 1998, he held senior management positions at Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico, as well as executive positions in international corporate, commercial and investment banking areas at Grupo Financiero GBM-Atlántico, Interacciones and Grupo Serfin.

Arturo was also president of the Mexican Venture Capital Association, and the only member of the Mexican Board of the Latin American Venture Capital and Venture Capital Association (LAVCA). Arturo studied Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Iberoamericana and has several specialization courses.

Roberto Langenauer

Roberto is a partner at Nexxus Iberia and Nexxus Capital, where he is also CFO and has 16 years of experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and infrastructure project finance.
Prior to joining Nexxus Capital in 2007, Roberto worked in the corporate finance area of Ernst & Young Mexico, and acted as financial advisor to companies in various industries. Roberto holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana.
Alejandro Gorozpe
Partner Mexico

Alejandro is a partner of both Nexxus Capital (where he is also Controller) and Nexxus Iberia and brings more than 19 years of experience in the preparation and interpretation of financial statements and tax advice.

Prior to joining Nexxus Capital, Alejandro was a tax advisor at PwC and was responsible for the accounting and finance areas in a family-owned textile company. Alejandro graduated with honors in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana.
